Many of us distrust God sometimes, but we think it's too serious. Trust is one of the most fragile elements on planet Earth. It is difficult to build and can be destroyed by careless action. Once trust has been broken, it takes even longer to rebuild it.
There are times when it will never be the gift it once was. I am so shattered that even my faith in God has been very weak, but thank God for his word of hope today. If you don't run to the Word to remind yourself of the truth in difficult times, it's easier to be deceived about your life and who God is. When I am tempted to fear, doubt, and worry, God calls me to cast away my own understanding of the situation and to trust him completely.
If God never changes and has been faithful to me in the past, then I can be absolutely sure that He will be faithful to me in the future. When you're struggling, share those concerns with another follower of Jesus who you trust someone you know is seeking a relationship with God on a regular basis and who knows the Word of God. Sometimes, the only way to live the life that God wants us to live is to separate ourselves from the bad influences that drag us down. God protected them from their enemies while they were in the Promised Land and continued to forgive and be trustworthy, even as the Israelites turned against God and began to participate in the worship of other gods.
The simple reality is that, most of the time, I barely understand what God is really doing in my life. They doubted God's intentions and forgot the ways in which he protected and maintained them in the past. You have to trust with your whole being that God supports you and will help and care for you. The author of this psalm develops the case that God can be trusted because of how reliable God has been in the past.
